Meet Your Mentor: Phil Haugen

Professional Horseman & Clinician | Certified Maxwell Method Leadership Coach

Phil starts with a simple, common sense approach of training horses that emphasizes building trust and understanding between horse and rider. His methods have produced over $1,000,000 in Equistat earnings by horses in barrel racing, roping, and other performance events. Phil has mentored and trained horses for multiple NFR qualifiers and continues to coach hundreds of amateur and professional trainers through his online training programs and clinics.

  • Getting to spend the week with Phil at his training facility with other like minded horsemen and women was really one of the greatest investments I have made in my horse training journey. If you listen to the podcast, or have attended a clinic, you know Phil's 1% better every day philosophy. The mentorship program takes that philosophy down under the microscope, not only in our horsemanship journeys, but in our journeys to achieve greatness in ourselves too! I am so grateful for Phil, what Phil Haugen Horsemanship stands for, and the opportunities he has given me to be a small part of what he does. I hope I can leave a legacy for aspiring horse trainers to follow that is a fraction of Phil's someday; thank you, Phil, for being you and all you do! I am a forever fan and student.

  • “A few years ago I made the decision that I wanted to train my own horses to compete on. I wanted them to be the best. Riding with Phil is always rewarding, but the fall mentorship gave me a lot of momentum in my training career. There is always something new to learn with horses, and as their rider, I want to give them the best opportunity to reach their full potential. I admire Phil’s approach and his ability to improve confidence between horse & rider! All of my horses continue to get better. You get a lot of time in the saddle during the mentorship, it’s an opportunity you do not want to miss!”
